About Dealer2Trade Auction
After reading so many obituaries for other online auction sites and how they had changed since being taken over by larger companies and also more expensive, we started building this website to follow the same ethos of only franchised dealers selling to the trade, but following Covid it was very obvious the trade had changed and it should be open to all of the trade to sell and buy bit not be greedy and charge a membership fee or a sales fee, but to cover overheads just a purchase fee.
Who are we?
We are a family-owned and run business we haven't always had the Franchises before this Mike was working from home as a trader going to auctions, Blackbushe and Oxford motor auctions were his regular haunts but many, many more, as well as having his own used car site which he remembers how hard it was to get the right stock sometimes and how frustrating it was working on his own, not wanting to leave the site in case a customer came when he was out looking for stock that he wouldn't always get, but spending hours going to dealers trying to get that next piece of stock, I worked for a couple of other dealerships before we decided to open our own in 1996 but whichever side of the motor trade you work in used car or franchised we certainly wished we had online auctions back then.
We will be keeping the website as simple as possible, we have looked at the old system and others doing the same and have made it as simple and easy to use.
Having bought and sold on different online car auctions ourselves in the past we share the frustrations of others we have heard from and that's why we want to make it as easy to use as possible and create a community of trade buyers similar to that we have sold to in the past and make it easy for all to offer their part exchanges and unwanted or overage stock for sale.
Having personally used an online auction for over 10 years we have found the following advantages when buying and selling stock:
- Quicker turn around than traditional auction houses, it can often be 5 days before a car is collected and another 5 before it goes through the auction hall and then you wait to be paid.
- You set the auction time so you better control your cash flow. We would always list a vehicle for two days and over 90% were paid and collected within 72 hours of the auction ending.
- We could list cars coming up to overage days in stock and still have them for sale as we can withdraw cars with no penalty if provisional not reached as cars never leave your premises.
- Low sellers (nil) and buyer's fees (£45 plus VAT), probably cheaper than the transport costs to a traditional auction for the total sale.
It is important for both sellers and the buyers that we get as many people as possible to join from the outset, it will literally take you one minute.
We hope to see you inside the Dealer2Trade website soon.
